Keena Ferguson

“You don’t have to be great to get started, but you do have to get started to be great.” Keena Ferguson’s love of all things creative (director, actress, VO artist, writer, producer, choreographer) has led her to fully accept all of her many talents and she now calls herself a multi artist. She hails from Jefferson City, MO and is a graduate of The Ohio State University where she received her B.F.A in dance and moved to LA less than a week after graduation. Although, she has been an an actor and director for the last 20 years on shows like Atlanta, Young & the Restless, Sistas, S.W.A.T and many more, she has always been a creator of her own content and excited to help others do the same. Always wanting to tell stories that mattered to her and allowed her to be seen in a variety of roles she began creating content. Her first short film, Kai, won numerous awards, played in more than 30+ film festivals and received TV distribution. Her first feature film led to a three picture distribution deal, she won a NAACP award for her one woman show Keena UnBranded that she also wrote, produced and starred in and her film Lindon Passing was HBO nominated. Her latest film Stopped garnered a lot of attention and went viral on social media and she recently signed a licensing deal for one of her films. Through her company, Now, Go Get it Done, she helps writers and creatives develop their content in all stages from pre to post. She understands that there is no one size fits all when it comes to creating content and that each project, each storyteller and each goal is different. In the last couple years, becoming a voice for creating your own content she has been teaching artists how to use their iphone in their filmmaking. Helping other creatives be inspired and get their projects done and out into the world is what she strives to do for each artist.

Testimonials

“When we came to Keena, my producing partner and I had no idea where to begin. All we had was a script and a dream. Keena helped us come up with a succinct, actionable plan to make our first steps toward pre-production. Keena encouraged us to set our shoot dates in stone and held us accountable to do so. That accountability lead us to launch a fundraising campaign that made over 25k in 2 weeks! We were in production 2 months after our session with Keena! And now, our film has been admitted into several festivals and won US Best Short Film at SF Indie Short Festival and Best First Time Director (Female) at the Independent Shorts Awards”

Akilah Walker, Director

The greatest takeaway for me was to simply go for it. To stop making excuses that shield my gifts from the world.”
